Regulatory
Status & Compliance
A plain-language breakdown of the federal regulatory framework governing research peptides in the United States — including FDA classification, compounding restrictions, quality standards, and buyer obligations.
Peptides as Regulated Drugs
Synthetic peptides intended for therapeutic, diagnostic, or anti-aging use in humans are classified as drugs under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act). Selling peptides with claims that they treat, cure, prevent, or mitigate any disease or condition — without FDA approval — is illegal.
Velora Compounds does not sell products for therapeutic, diagnostic, or human use of any kind. All products are sold strictly for in-vitro laboratory research by qualified professionals. No disease, health, or anti-aging claims are made anywhere on this site.
FDA Category 1 & Category 2 Peptides
The FDA has categorized bulk peptide drug substances into two categories for compounding pharmacy purposes:
• Category 1 — May be compounded by licensed pharmacies under a valid physician prescription for specific patient needs.
• Category 2 — Cannot be compounded due to identified safety concerns or lack of clinical evidence. Compounding these substances is prohibited under Section 503A/503B of the FD&C Act.
BPC-157, for example, has moved in and out of compounding status as the FDA continues to evaluate its safety profile. As of 2026, some previously restricted peptides have returned to legal compounding eligibility with a valid physician prescription.
Velora Compounds does not operate as a compounding pharmacy and does not sell any product for patient-specific or therapeutic use. Our products are research-grade compounds sold exclusively for in-vitro laboratory use.
"Research Use Only" Does Not Override FDA Regulation
Labeling a product "Research Use Only" or "Not for Human Consumption" does not automatically exempt a seller from FDA regulation if the seller knows — or reasonably should know — that the product will be used for human consumption.
The FDA has taken enforcement action against companies that use RUO or NHC labeling as a shield while marketing to consumers for human use through implied language, usage guides, dosing protocols, or community promotion.
Velora Compounds strictly enforces its research-only policy. We do not provide dosing instructions, reconstitution guides, cycle recommendations, or any usage guidance through any channel. We do not market to consumers for personal use. We reserve the right to cancel any order we believe is not for legitimate research purposes.
USP/NF and Third-Party Testing Requirements
Compounded peptides prepared by licensed pharmacies must be manufactured using bulk drug substances that meet USP (United States Pharmacopeia) or NF (National Formulary) standards where applicable.
All Velora research compounds are independently tested by third-party laboratories using HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) and mass spectrometry to verify purity and identity. Our minimum purity standard is ≥99% for all peptide compounds.
A Certificate of Analysis (CoA) documenting test results is included with every order and available for review prior to purchase in our CoA Database. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available upon request.
Import & Export Restrictions
While U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) may exercise discretion for personal imports of up to a 90-day supply of certain substances, importing peptides that are classified as prescription drugs or controlled substances carries a high risk of seizure and potential legal consequences.
Velora Compounds ships exclusively within the United States from Austin, Texas. We do not accept international orders. All products are manufactured and tested domestically, reducing importation risk for our customers.
Buyers attempting to import or export research compounds across international borders do so entirely at their own risk and are solely responsible for compliance with the laws of all applicable jurisdictions.
State-Specific Restrictions
In addition to federal FDA regulation, individual U.S. states may impose additional restrictions on the purchase, possession, or use of research peptides. Regulatory status varies by state and may change over time.
Buyers are solely responsible for determining whether the purchase of any product is lawful in their state and locality. Velora Compounds makes no representation that any product is legal in any specific jurisdiction beyond federal U.S. research-use-only status.
We reserve the right to decline or cancel orders from any jurisdiction where fulfillment would create legal risk.
Your Legal Obligation as a Purchaser
By purchasing from Velora Compounds you represent and warrant that:
• You are 21 years of age or older
• You are a qualified researcher or academic professional
• The products will be used exclusively for lawful in-vitro research
• You have verified that your purchase is legal in your jurisdiction
• You will not resell products to non-research entities
• You will not use products in any manner that violates applicable law
Misrepresentation of research intent may constitute a violation of federal law. Velora Compounds is not liable for any consequences arising from buyer misuse or misrepresentation.
